Chinese food therapy is a practice of healing using natural foods. In the West, we refer to proteins, fats, carbohydrates and other components of food. Chinese food therapy focuses on other dimensions, such as warming, cooling, calming, strengthening of energy and other properties. Knowledge of these qualities enables food to be used therapeutically.
As each person has a unique constitution, the notion of what is a ‘balanced diet’ is unique for each individual. A personal diagnosis of the individual is taken using Chinese diagnostic tools, which are powerful in their simplicity, and particular foods recommended for the healing properties they bring to the individual.
